My secret Senna delivered today. Thanks Jminer! The Prelude key chains are awesome (and one is going on my work key chain as I type).
The Raspberry Pi and Arduino is relevant to my interests , and are damned awesome. Some of our base stations, repeaters and decoders are equipment run by Pi’s, or custom derivatives of them on the flood warning system I run for a living . In some applications they control radios, and in other applications they they decode the data traffic and drop it onto the network. Some applications are also paired with an Arduino running a speaker for radio troubleshooting. I’ve scratched the surface a bit on them with some support from our system integrator vendor, and it was just enough to make realize just how big the possibilities are for these little guys. Learning a lot more Linux is on my to do list, so this will help accelerate that project.
Thanks! You hit it out of the park.

Why do these take so long? I’ve shipped and received many things with USPS/PayPal labels, and packages always arrive in a few days.

I have a bucket of these things sitting in my classroom and need to figure out what to do with them.

Because I was very bad at this and didn’t ship it until last week...

I’m glad you like it! My desk is constantly covered in Pis, Arduinos and other embedded boards and thought I’d share some.
It’s awesome it aligns that well with you - I knew you had transferred into an IT gig last year and these sort of things are always awesome for someone in that field as tools to learn on.
I teach a series of classes on how to get into this kind of stuff at my work so I hoped you’d enjoy it. Have fun - this corner of tech is pretty cool!

I’m having a lot of fun in the job. It is kind of cross between being a radio telemetry technician in the field with the hardware and a system administrator on the software side of the system. I’ve also taken on the side role as the keeper of our mechanical things. I’ve always got tools, parts and test equipment all over my desk.

Cool! RaspPis are pretty neat. I’ve fooled around with them at the local Library a lot when I’ve worked there on grants. :)
As for Linux, it’s pretty cool and more user friendly than people make it out to be, at least in my opinion (I have a Win10 gaming desktop, but my laptop runs Linux Mint).
There are a few distros out there specifically made for the RaspPi...Raspbian comes to mind as that is provided by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, themselves, but there are many other distros out there with ARM variants! Ubuntu MATE would be a pretty decent OS to make almost like any other desktop...

That’s awesome - I’ve really loved IT. It’s been a pretty varied job that challenges me and usually keeps me from getting bored.
